With two teams aptly nicknamed "the comeback queens," it was no
surprise the AAA state quarterfinal matchup between Stone Bridge and
ninth-ranked Osbourn would go extra innings.
Osbourn's Nikki Peros lined a single into center field with two
outs in the bottom of the ninth to score Shelby Peters (the courtesy
runner for pitcher Ashleigh Williams) for the winning run, 3-2, in
Manassas.
Osbourn (24-3), the top seed from the Northwestern Region, logged
its fifth come-from-behind victory in the past month and also halted
Stone Bridge's unexpected return to the state tournament. The
