Article: Route 123 Bypass Options Under Study; Fairfax City, County Hope to Ease Chain Bridge Road Bottleneck

It's been a bottleneck for years: the narrow, two-lane stretch of Chain Bridge Road that snakes through Fairfax City.

And for just as long, officials have talked about easing traffic congestion there by building a western bypass around Route 123 and the city's historic district.

That idea finally may be closer to realization, according to Fairfax City and some Fairfax County officials.
