It seems a little unfair to criticize the hitting of the league's
second-leading hitter. Derrek Lee contended for the Triple Crown two
years ago and defined a new era of post-steroid- crazed power
hitters, players we could believe in.
But just a thought: Maybe Derrek Lee could hit a home run every
once in a while this year?
Lee has had a shocking power outage, and the Cubs need him to
turn it back on. He needs it, too.
It was more evident than ever Saturday in contrast, as Milwaukee,
the team the Cubs are trying to catch, beat the Cubs 13-4 at Wrigley
Field.
Brewers first baseman Prince Fielder has 27 home runs. He drove
in three more runs Saturday, too, giving him 66 for the season. ...
