They're gonna cowboy up, tie down, haul in, cut out, sort head, pull tails and, after the dust settles, a few will leave town with shiny new belt buckles.

More than 100 working cowboys from 25 ranches will convene in Colorado Springs this weekend for the fifth annual Ride for the Brand Ranch Rodeo.

"It's really a celebration of what made the West what it is," said rodeo co-organizer Kathleen Fox Collins.

The rodeo is open only to fulltime working cowboys. Most of the fellas competing are more accustomed to seeing shooting stars than city lights.
