SAN RAMON -- Plans for a 50-foot cell phone tower off San Ramon
Valley Boulevard have been rejected by a city advisory panel.
Architectural Review board members said that while there are
plenty of locations that would be appropriate for a towering 2-foot-
thick communications pole, a church parking lot in a residential
area is not one of them.
Calling it "completely inappropriate" and "out of scale," board
members late last month rejected the notion of a cell phone tower at
the American Baptist Church of the Valley near Montevideo Drive.
The pole was proposed by T-Mobile, which wants to increase
cellular service along the Interstate 680 corridor and for nearby
