Los Angeles - To those who say the TV establishment is stuck in
the past, the TV establishment said this Thursday: Duuuude! No way!
To quote the news release announcing the 59th Primetime Emmy
Awards nominations: "Of the 54 nominations for comedy and drama
programs as well as lead and supporting performers, 33 were not
included among last year's nominees, a 60 percent rate of fresh
faces and shows." Take that, dude.
Some welcome newcomers did brighten the list announced by the
Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, which will present the Emmys
Sept. 16 in a ceremony that will air live on Fox.
It was good to see freshman sparklers "Heroes," "Ugly Betty" and
"30 Rock" among the best series ...
