Union Grove - Department of Corrections officials celebrated the
opening last week of a new athletic and educational center at
Southern Oaks Girls School in Racine County.
The activities scheduled to take place in the building could help
the residents at the center - it's the only one in the state for
female juvenile offenders - turn their paths toward law-abiding,
productive lives, Corrections Secretary Matt Frank said.
"Girls, we wish you the best with your futures," Frank said at
the maximum-security facility.
The $2 million center will replace several trailers that had
served as classrooms and will give residents a place to be active
