LIVERMORE -- For Doug Horner, moving to a seat on the Livermore City Council was an easy transition.

Horner, 49, has spent almost five years on the city planning commission, making sure that land use is in compliance with city standards. He was required to leave the commission to claim his seat on the City Council.

After interviews, Horner was selected and sworn in by the City Council on July 10. He will take over the unexpired term of retiring City Councilman Tom Reitter.

Horner is an architect who works as a project manager for the Chabot-Las Positas Community College District. He describes his job
