OPENING SHOT . . .
The previous Pious Al to briefly set his carpetbag down in
Chicago, Alan Keyes, also talked big about changes he would bring to
the city.
We're still waiting.
So it is something of a mystery why anyone would make a big deal
about the arrival of the Rev. Al Sharpton, whose interest in Chicago
seems mostly commercial, promoting his talk radio program now airing
on a local station here.
Sharpton's flaws are so numerous, one hardly knows where to
begin. Fairness might tempt a person to discount the Tawana Brawley
case as old news, had Sharpton ever apologized to the innocent men
whose lives he tried to ruin and kept trying, long after the facts
became clear.
