Article: Lowery not resting on laurels

SAN JOSE -- San Jose State University cornerback Dwight Lowery sits in his coach's office watching game tape that spotlights his 2006 All-American season. And yet he doesn't seem particularly pleased with what he's seeing.

It shows him intercepting passes, knocking down balls, making tackles.

But Lowery fixates instead on the tiny flaws; things he missed or could have done better. When one receiver jukes the tape version of Lowery and makes a nice catch, the real Lowery looks on with disgust.

"I've got to be a better player than this," he said.

From behind his desk, SJSU associate head coach Keith Burns smiles.

"How can you not like coaching a kid like him?" he asked.
