CHINA
President Hu Jintao, right, offered to work with other countries
to improve China's product inspection. Hu said China has put in
place rigorous quality controls for manufacturing and is improving
monitoring systems to detect food contamination.
SOUTH KOREA
South Korea, Asia's second-biggest beef importer, said it blocked
a U.S. meat delivery for the second time this week after a Cargill
shipment contained bones that are banned because of concern for mad-
cow disease.
The prohibited ribs were found in a shipment of 18.1 tons, the
Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry said. The shipment will be
returned and the plant will be barred from shipping to South Korea,
it said.
