Two Rivers - Answering a question as he led a visitor through his
clean, well-lighted factory, Jay Streu said that no, Eggers
Industries doesn't sell its doors to the residential market.
"Unless," he added, "you call Bill Gates' house residential."
Eggers' doors, tabletops and architectural panels, crafted with
veneers ranging from birch to bubinga and lots of other woods you've
probably never heard of, find their way to many noteworthy places -
the Pentagon, Ritz-Carlton hotels, Disney properties and high-
roller rooms at Las Vegas casinos.
So it's no surprise that the company's handiwork should end up in
the 40,000-square-foot mansion the world's richest man built in
suburban Seattle about ...
