Article: USA Track Seeks Training Programs for Elites

To try to bolster sagging performances by U.S. distance runners, USA Track & Field Executive Director Craig Masback wants to establish a program that would train, nurture, test and finance aspiring Olympic-caliber athletes.

"We need to create a coherent program that will give our athletes more and better opportunities to compete on the roads and on the track," Masback said. "I'd like to see a program with substantial funding that would include training camps complete with room and board where athletes can work together over the long term."
