MOBILE phones do not damage health in the short-term but there
are faint hints they may cause cancer, it emerged today. A landmark
study found no link between brain cancer and mobiles in people who
have used them for less than 10 years.
But experts said early studies suggested some increased risk for
long-term users. There are also major concerns about mobile phone
risks to children, as no proper research has been carried out.
Todays results are based on the biggest study of its kind called
the Mobile Telecommunications and Health Research Programme. The six-
year project, based on 28 separate studies, said mobile phones were
safe in the short term.
