In her native Mexico, Maria Claudia Ruiz would have been waited on hand and foot for 40 days in cuarentena as she recovered from the birth of her son.

Her female relatives would have swarmed around her, taking over all the duties of the house - cooking and cleaning - and leaving her plenty of time to rest and bond with her new baby.

Now, far from her native land and living in Milwaukee, Ruiz found a little piece of home in an unexpected place.

She and other soon-to-be mothers receiving prenatal care at Sixteenth Street Community Health Center arrived one day to find special individual packages.
