Momentum is one of those precious commodities for playoff contenders, so getting a break Thursday a day after what manager Lou Piniella called the biggest win of the season seems a little ill- timed for the Cubs.

Right?

"I know people say you want to keep up the momentum," energetic shortstop Ryan Theriot said. "But I'll tell you what, we're at the point now where it's, 'Let's relax and recharge.' "

So that's what the Cubs did Thursday. No scoreboard watching. No rotation shuffling. No late-game nail-biters. Just rest.
