The White Sox would officially like to welcome Jose Contreras to
the 2007 season.
Yes, his arrival was past due ... way past due as a matter of
fact.
But the right-handed pitcher has now earned himself a seat
alongside fellow starting pitchers Mark Buehrle and Javier Vazquez
in the front of the class.
One difference -- don't get too comfortable, Mr. Contreras.
In throwing the complete-game shutout in the 7-0 victory over
Kansas City on Wednesday, Con- treras has won four consecutive
decisions, improving his record to 10-16, and is 5-2 with a 3.11 ERA
over his last nine outings.
In doing so, however, he also upped his stock from a two-year,
$20 million anchor that couldn't be moved ...
