When Peter Buchholz gets called in to look at a house that's
about to be demolished, he sees it in parts and pieces: knobs and
doors, windows and furniture. What could be reused; what would other
people want to buy?
Then Buchholz, the executive director of Habitat for Humanity of
Waukesha County, carts away anything that looks like desirable
merchandise for Waukesha's new ReStore. By the time that operation
at 222 W. St. Paul Ave. opens next month, hardware from those
buildings as well as donations Buchholz has been collecting for the
past year will be ready for purchase.
