Article: British forensic experts claim Portuguese police misused Maddy results

BRITISH scientists have hit out at Portuguese police for allegedly twisting evidence in the investigation into Madeleine McCann's disappearance.

The Forensic Science Service in Birmingham is said to have sent an email to police in the country complaining that detectives had "wildly misused" laboratory findings.

The row is over "inconclusive" forensic evidence retrieved from the McCanns' Portuguese hire car.

Traces of Madeleine's DNA were reportedly found inside but the family say they could have come from her belongings.

Portuguese police have been accused of overplaying the findings by suggesting they showed the fouryear-old's body could have been carried in the car's boot.
