Article: Weighing too little may lead to memory loss, study says; But obesity still carries a lot of problems, docs say

Being fat isn't all bad.

Elderly people who are overweight are no more likely to suffer memory loss than normal-weight people, according to a new study of more than 3,800 South Side residents.

By contrast, the study found that underweight people are more likely to experience memory loss.

It appears that the underlying condition that causes memory loss also might cause weight loss, said Dr. Maureen Sturman, the lead researcher for the Rush University Medical Center study, published in the journal Neurology.
