First lady Hillary Rodham Clinton will appear under subpoena
Friday before the Whitewater federal grand jury here to answer
questions about the recent discovery in the White House residence of
her legal billing records that have been sought by investigators for
two years.
The subpoena for the first lady's appearance was issued by
independent counsel Kenneth W. Starr Friday but not announced by the
White House until late yesterday. Starr also has subpoenaed the
testimony of three White House aides and the Clintons' private
attorneys, including Williams & Connolly lawyer David E. Kendall.
Starr's action marked the first time that a first lady has
been subpoenaed to testify before a ...
