YORKSHIRE hotel group Golden Tulip has been bought by Premier
Inns owner Whitbread for Pounds 44m.
The Ripon-based business, which was founded in 2002 and manages
five three-star Tulip Inn hotels and one four-star Golden Tulip
property, was sold by private equity group Graphite Capital.
The group operates the Leeds/Castleford Tulip Inn and has plans
to open a Golden Tulip in York and Tulip Inns in Sheffield and
Doncaster as part of a Pounds 40m expansion across the UK to add
nine more hotels in the next two years.
Golden Tulip, which is the UK franchise of Dutch and Swiss hotel
chain Golden Tulip International, had turnover of Pounds 15.2m and
