A duel programme - including badger culls - would be used by a
Conservative government to rid the Westcountry of the scourge of
bovine tuberculosis, Exmoor Farmers were told by a senior Shadow
Minister.
There should be a total strategy, a complete package of measures,
not long-drawn-out and piecemeal efforts, said Jim Paice, Shadow
Minister of Agriculture.
Using new technology, only badger setts that had proved to be
occupied by infectious and dying animals would be eliminated, and
then blocked up.
Mr Paice addressed the controversial issue of the continuing
threat posed by bovine TB to South West cattle herds, and the
