Article: School district races, tax issues set for vote

The races are set.

Nine area school districts will have contests in November to elect board members, and a handful of districts will have tax questions.

Some districts drew twice as many candidates as they have open seats.

In five of 17 area school districts, however, elections were canceled because the number of candidates matched -- or was less than -- the number of open positions on the board.

State law allows jurisdictions to cancel an election if there are no more candidates than there are seats available.
