HOURS after Alisher Usmanov claimed in Moscow he wanted to give
peace a chance, the message a thousand miles north here in Bucharest
was even more emphatic.
Who needs an oligarch's loose change when you've already got a
young team who are looking a million dollars and totting up so many
wins that you almost need an abacus to keep count of them? Throw in
a new stadium that has become one giant cash register and it's easy
to see why a charm offensive from a Russian tycoon can fall on deaf
ears.
It is Arsenal's young smoothies who are doing the most convincing
wooing for the status quo. Usmanov is like a ham-fisted Sid James
compared to this young team of Warren Beattys.
