Open Farm Sunday, the initiative started this year by LEAF (Linking Environment and Farming), will be held on June 1 in 2008.

LEAF chief executive and Cornish farmer Caroline Drummond said the scheme, in which farmers open their gates to visitors, has been brought forward by a week from its original date.

"We've been kind to all those football fans out there who'll be glued to their TVs for Euro 2008 - and brought it forward a week," she said. "So now there's no excuses to get involved, open your gates and tell everyone what you do and why farms ...
