A Brighton doctor has lost in his attempt to renege on an
agreement to serve in the US Air Force in return for his free
medical
education.
Gilbert P. Hager, M.D., a captain in the Air Force, was denied a
petition for habeas corpus yesterday by Judge David Nelson of the
federal District Court in Boston.
Nelson's denial of the writ permits the Air Force to call Hager
up
for active duty immediately.
Hager joined the US Air Force Health Professionals Scholarship
Program in 1981. Commissioned a second lieutenant, he received his
medical training and post-graduate medical training at Air Force
expense. In return, Hager agreed to spend four years as a physician
in the service of the Air ...
