Article: Saddam Hussein pushes political war

By blowing up a Kuwaiti oil field yesterday, Saddam Hussein delivered on yet another promise. Like Iraq's third missile attack on Israel yesterday, his promises have little military value. But they carry heavy political and psychological weight, and Saddam Hussein is waging a political as well as a military war. Taking stock after the first week of battle, the Iraqi leader may feel that things are not going too badly.

He has survived the first air onslaught and, despite all the efforts of the allies, is still able to fire his missiles at Saudi Arabia and Israel as promised. He has not managed to do any damage to Saudi Arabia yet, nor has he turned Tel Aviv into a "crematorium" --
