Though New England is not the smokestack region it once was,
there is still a thriving -- albeit narrowly niched -- manufacturing
industry. In Medway the Parrella brothers, Robert, Dick and John,
quietly roll along manufacturing and supplying bowling balls and
other supplies to enthusiasts throughout the world. Although they
have diversified to include high-technology items, Paramount
Industries Inc. (distributor) and E. Parrella Co. Inc.
(manufacturer)
manage to fill most of the region's alleys with their duckpin and
candlepin bowling balls. The Globe's Keith Yocum, a bowling fan,
recently talked with Paramount president, Robert Parrella.
