Article: Laser show opens Hub winter festival

A laser-and-sound extravaganza in Copley Square last night kicked off the city's first "Boston Festival."

As light rain fell, more than 100 party-goers gathered by Trinity Church to watch a laser show on the facade of Copley Plaza Hotel. "This is really cool," said Carole Swanson, 26, of Cambridge. "I'm glad the city's trying to make things better."

In this time of economic hardship, said the festival's president, Louisa Kasdon, the five-day winter festival aims to establish Boston as a premier winter tourist destination.
