Article: Angola: No Substitute for the Lusaka Peace Accords

I read the Feb. 28 letter by UNITA representative Jardo Muekalia {"Angola: The Mercenaries Remain"} with concern, because some of The Post's readers may actually take his comments as facts. Broadly, I am disappointed to read that UNITA still lives in the past, preferring to rehash events of 1992 rather than address current problems and take the country into the future.

Of more specific concern was a not very veiled threat by UNITA that it will hold the Lusaka Protocols peace process hostage until the mandate of the National Assembly expires late this year.
