When Michigan beat Seton Hall in the NCAA championship game two
years ago, there was as much pity for the Pirates as praise for the
Wolverines. Not only did coach P.J. Carlesimo's team lose on a
debatable call that allowed the Wolverines' Rumeal Robinson to make
the winning foul shots in the final seconds, but it also seemed like
a one-shot chance at the title for Seton Hall.
If anyone was going to make a quick return to the Final Four, it
was Michigan, a perennial Big Ten power that had all the advantages
of a state school in a highly visible conference.
But as this year's NCAA tournament moves into the Sweet Sixteen
round, it is the Pirates who are again flirting with a championship ...
