The Loudoun School Board, in a special meeting Monday night,
rebuked a Board of Supervisors directive that it pare its budget
request for a 22.7 percent increase in county funding by at least
half, setting the stage for a budget showdown.
School Board members instead opted to provide supervisors with
detailed information on the impact such a reduction might have on
individual school programs, so that supervisors could "make a better
informed decision" on school funding, according to School Board
Chairman Joseph W. Vogric (Dulles).
"We have adopted a budget that we feel is sound," Vogric said.
"What we will do is give them all the possible information to
educate them -- so to speak ...
