As the election year heats up, Labor Secretary Robert B. Reich
has emerged as the administration's most visible spokesman on
economic matters -- and he reportedly is driving his colleagues
nuts.
With a three-month barrage of speeches, editorials and public
appearances, Reich has doggedly pushed the issue of corporate
responsibility -- the notion that in a era of downsized government,
it's up to corporations to do more to protect U.S. workers.
Reich has persisted in his crusade despite protests from the
most influential players on the Clinton economic team. National
Economic Council Chairman Laura D'Andrea Tyson and Treasury
