Dinosaur Jr, an Amherst-based trio fronted by guitarist-singer J.
Mascis, has garnered quite a reputation over the past five years.
As: guitar-noise rockers touted by the similar-minded kings of the
genre Sonic Youth; a cutting-edge group heavily played on college
radio; a critical favorite in both England and America.
Dinosaur Jr. started small and then became a key player in the
independent-label, semi-underground world. Earlier this year,
Dinosaur Jr. released its fourth album and major label debut, "Green
Mind," on Sire/Warner Bros.
The prevailing perception in the alternative music field: Dinosaur
Jr. is god.
