Some basketball players get the proverbial hot hand during a
game. Hitting five three-pointers in a half -- as the University of
Michigan's Louis Bullock did against Indiana on Jan. 28 -- is one
way to make your hand so hot that others better not come near it.
Bullock's hand, though, is a little different.
"I don't let anyone touch my shooting hand before a game,"
said Bullock, who picked up the superstition from one of the guys
who played at his gym back home in Temple Hills, Md.
It might not be very comforting to Michigan fans that much of
their team's hopes ride on a superstitious freshman guard. But
that's the reality, and so far, it's been pretty easy to live with.
