Article: Blue Cross asks 21.3% hike in elderly's Medex coverage

The news is not good for more than 270,000 senior citizens: Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Massachusetts yesterday filed a request seeking to increase the cost of Medex health insurance by 21.3 percent, or as much as $22 a month.

If this rate is approved, it will hike most bills to $114.33 a month -- more than double the payment required only three years ago. The state Division of Insurance must approve the increase for Medex, which supplements Medicare services for senior citizens.
