HANOVER, N.H. -- Vermont swarmed New Hampshire halfback Matt
Mezquita all game, but it was Mezquita who emerged ahead of the pack,
leading his team to its third straight victory over its Green
Mountain rivals in the 38th annual Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl yesterday
at Dartmouth's Memorial Stadium.
"They were keying in on me all day, so I was just as happy to give
up the ball or make things happen," said Mezquita after New Hampshire
defeated Vermont, 16-6, in front of a crowd of 10,080.
New Hampshire has won 10 of the last 11 contests and leads the
series, 25-11-2.
