Two American boats advanced to the finals, with three other US
crews earning semifinal berths, in the World Rowing Championships
yesterday in Vienna.
German crews also put two boats into the finals and three into the
semifinals.
The strongest American entry is the men's four without coxswain
featuring 1988 Olympic silver medalist Tom Bohrer of Babylon, N.Y.,
along with Northeastern alumni Jeff McLaughlin of Warwick, R.I., Pat
Manning of Hyde Park, N.Y., and Mike Porterfield of Alexandria, Va.
