Article: `Other People's Money' and `Eastern Standard': Legacy of greed

The '80s have come home to roost and their legacy -- the BCCI scandal, bank failures, mortgage scams and the hardships of the homeless -- is not as alluring as the quick-buck promise that drove them in the fast lane. They have also left in their wake a host of movies, novels and plays bringing snappy wit to plots about the wages of avarice and the dawning of wisdom among their yuppie protagonists. By a happy coincidence, two late '80s comedies are enlivening stages only a few blocks apart in Cambridge -- Jerry Sterner's scabrous "Other People's Money" at the Hasty Pudding and Richard Greenberg's deft "Eastern Standard" at the Theater at the Harvard Union.
