MANCHESTER -- Using a sheet of paper as his courtroom and comedy
as the prosecutor, Manchester lawyer John Davis spends his free time
bringing American culture to trial.
Davis writes parody books as a hobby and in his court, authority
carries no weight, convention is picked apart and etiquette does not
exist. For six years, the lawyer said, he has retreated to this
court to nurture his sense of humor and his "class clown"
personality, and to survive in a society that causes him a lot of
hand-wringing.
This justice system is quite different from the one in which Davis
works during the day, handling personal injury cases at the law firm
