Article: Ex-Student Sues Virginia Tech, Two Athletes; Woman Seeks Money Equal to Bowl Payout

A woman who charged she was raped by two Virginia Tech football players last year has sued the school and the players for $8.3 million in damages -- the amount the Hokies earned in the Sugar Bowl.

Christy Brzonkala, a former student, charges that linebacker Tony Morrison and his roommate, James Crawford, raped her in their dormitory room in September 1994.

In a campus hearing last spring, college officials found Morrison guilty of sexual assault and suspended him for two semesters. But after two appeals, college officials instead found Morrison guilty of using abusive language and allowed him to return to school.

No action was taken against Crawford.
