After months of deflecting downtown manager Beth Bannon's
questions about her job status, town officials abruptly called her
into a meeting, terminated her appointment, and asked her to vacate
her office within an hour, she said.
Bannon, who was hired in January as a temporary employee, said
"philosophical differences" accounted for her being fired.
"They said I didn't fit in," she said.
Earlier this year, officials said Bannon had been hired as a
temporary employee for three months, and that her status could be
changed to permanent, pending a satisfactory review.
Yesterday, town oficials cited confidentiality in declining to
comment on specifics of the firing.
