MUSIC Along with all his other accomplishments, Thomas
Jefferson undoubtedly was the most talented musician ever elected to
the U.S. presidency.
That is one clear conclusion from a concert titled "Monticello
Music" that was given by the Virginia Chamber Players (members of
the Virginia Chamber Orchestra) on Sunday evening at the Lyceum in
Alexandria -- in its 18th-century architectural style, an ideal
venue for music of this vintage.
The program, devoted to composers whose music was known to
Jefferson, collected by him and undoubtedly performed during
musicales in his home, will be repeated Sunday afternoon in the Old
School in Waterford, Va.
