Claritin goes on sale over the counter this week, with many users
of the popular nonsedating antihistamine paying more for the
convenience of purchasing without a prescription.
The cost will vary depending on the copay of an individual's
prescription insurance coverage, but many allergy sufferers will end
up paying $5 to $10 more for a month's supply. By contrast, those
without insurance coverage or with a Claritin copay of more than $30
will actually save money buying the antihistamine over the counter.
Claritin is being rolled out today, tomorrow, and Thursday by area
pharmacy chains with full-page ads and massive in-store displays.
