Jo-Ann Armao, The Washington Post's city editor for the last 18
months, was named assistant managing editor for metropolitan news
yesterday.
Armao, 44, succeeds Milton Coleman, whose promotion to deputy
managing editor was announced in April.
Armao joined The Post in 1984 as an assistant city editor. She
also has worked as a Maryland reporter, Virginia editor and deputy
metropolitan editor to Coleman.
Before joining The Post, she was metro editor and assistant
managing editor of the Buffalo Courier-Express and city editor of
the Charlotte Observer.
