Article: HARVARD BASKETBALL COACH HAPPY TO BE OF ASSISTANCE

Early one March morning, Harvard women's basketball coach Kathy Delaney-Smith had a curious message on her answering machine.

"It was like one of those big, gruff basketball coach's voices," she recalled.

The message, she would discover, was from Ohio State women's basketball coach Jim Foster, informing Delaney-Smith that she had just been named assistant coach of the 2003 USA World Championship for Young Women team.

Delaney-Smith had no idea she was even in consideration for the job but is thrilled to have the opportunity to coach such talented 21- and-under players.

"I am very honored," she said. "I am going to get the opportunity to work with the best in the country."
