A controversial proposal to build a golf course on the
Commonwealth-owned Medfield State Hospital property got a huge boost
last week when Town Meeting voted to support it.
Town Meeting was following the advice of the Board of Selectmen
and the Warrant Committee, both of which voted to support the golf
course plan as the alternative to the first choice put forward by the
Medfield State Hospital Reuse Committee: Finding a developer to build
about 300 housing units surrounded by 80 acres of open space.
The Reuse Committee had earlier rejected listing the golf course
even as a second choice in the recommendation it will soon forward to
the state.
