LAS VEGAS - Oscar De La Hoya and his crew learned one thing last
night at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. They learned love is blind.
Minutes after learning he had lost a 12-round decision to Shane
Mosley for the second time in three years, both De La Hoya and his
trainer, Floyd Mayweather Sr., expressed stunned bewilderment at the
decision. Mayweather even went so far as to say, "Losing never
crossed our minds."
Maybe that was the problem.
Something certainly was because, just as in the first fight, De La
Hoya went ahead early but then allowed Mosley to take the play away
from him in the later rounds. Despite the reaction from De La Hoya,
who said he thought he had won by at least two points, ...
