Article: BLUE HILLS SKI AREA ON THIN ICE BECAUSE OF OVERDUE WATER BILL

CANTON - More than a week after the Blue Hills Ski Area opened early for the season amid a blustery snowstorm, the Canton Board of Selectmen is considering whether to shut off the facility's water supply because of a $75,000 overdue water bill.

The board voted, 3-1, last week to put Boston's closest ski resort on a 10-day notice while it consults with town counsel on the legality of turning off the water. According to Canton's finance director, ski operator RM Blue Hills Inc. missed a quarterly payment to the town in February 2003, and now owes $75,000.
